Fresh Start at 32 years

I'm WillowjakMama!

My blog started as a way to document my journey to wellness, but turned into a place to be inspired by others through our collective messy & authentic stories. Now it's my favourite place to be.

hey there

“I will call you when there are any upcoming hours.”

I was put back to an on-call position at my workplace of eight years.

This was a devastating loss for me at work in September.

Then I was hit with another tragic loss in my personal life, in October of 2021.

My life fell apart.

Hard times hit me very hard.

I lost hours at my job while I was also dealing with loss in my life.

It seemed like there was no way out.

I learned to save every dollar I earned.

The weight of the world felt heavy on my shoulders.

Life happens.

Just like that.

Little did I know that I would soon have a new opportunity closer to home.

When January 2022 came around – I only had one goal in mind.

I decided that I needed to either return to my regular position or look for another job if I was still only getting on-call hours.

It wasn’t an easy decision to make. I was at a crossroads.

Eventually, I ended up taking a position at another job and left my current job. I was NOT looking forward to it.

Flashbacks came; would I have a target on my back again?

Would people be constantly on me?

Am I going to be the one people dislike working with?

So many questions. The anxiety, questions and flashbacks that came with starting this new job took over and made it so I wasn’t feeling excited to start this new job.

I have now just finished my first month at my new job.

I still feel scared sometimes. But not so scared where I am tempted to run out and quit anymore.

You never realize what you need until it happens.

It’s okay to start fresh at any age.

It’s okay to do things differently. And sometimes a fresh start is what we all need.

I’m still adjusting to my role, the place, the rooms, etc.

But I know I will be okay hopefully.
