Speaking & Advocacy
We Never Set Out To Be Advocates.
We simply became the family people watched.
When two autistic twins changed the course of our lives, we found ourselves navigating systems, educating strangers, answering questions, challenging assumptions, and helping others understand a world they hadn’t seen before.
Early on, we made a decision.
If this was going to be our family’s journey, it couldn’t be just for us.
We believed our experiences could become someone else’s starting point. That every challenge could become a lesson. That by sharing our story openly and honestly, we could help create a community where people with developmental disabilities are better understood, better supported, and given every opportunity to belong.
To me, advocacy isn’t just something that happens from a stage.
It happens in everyday conversations, on social media, in schools, workplaces, community groups, and anywhere people are willing to listen. Every conversation is an opportunity to make tomorrow a little easier for the families who come after us.
Today, that work continues through Willowjak and through our podcast, Same Friends. Different Lives.
Invitation
Let’s Start the Conversation
Whether you’re looking for a speaker, podcast guest, panel participant, or someone to contribute lived experience to an important discussion, I’d love to connect.
And if there’s a conversation you wish people were having or something you’d like to see change in your community, I want to hear that too.
Because meaningful change doesn’t begin with having all the answers.
It begins by asking better questions.
